After the Fall
Bardic Octahedron (Ioun Stone)
Records and then creates an ilusionary reproduction of an encounter
This small, smooth stone can record scenes and events for ilusionary reproduction later. Used heavily by the most well known Seeker squads (and law enforcement) most intend for these stones capture great fights and terrifying triumphs. They just as often capture the grizzly end to less experienced Seekers.
By releasing the stone near one’s head, it begins to float and record the scene and all that occurs. For all but lesser stones, you can stop recording by grasping the stone again. All but lesser stones can resume recording by placing them back in orbit. How long the stone records depends on the quality of the stone. Types include lesser, Improved, greater, and superior. Lesser stones record a single encounter (1d3+1 minutes.) Improved will record up to two hours. Greater can record up to a week. Superior stones can record up to a year nonstop.
Lesser and Improved stones all can only record up to their time limit; once time is used, it is consumed. Greater and Superior stones can he crafted to have the ability to erase some or all their contents at the wielder’s whim; this does not cost any extra.
To play back the scene, one merely needs to concentrate briefly. This can occur in one of two ways: either as a dream-like sequence in which the wielded quickly sees the entire event in his or her mind, or as a reproduction in a designated open space nearby. No matter how realistic the abilities or scenes witnessed, the illusions cannot cause any harm.
